really admire the way season one of Miraculous Ladybug makes it clear that Ladybug and Chat Noir are both incredibly badass and also incredibly stupid
In Climatika/Stormy Weather, Ladybug cuts through the side of a bus with just her yoyo and makes a plan that works flawlessly in two seconds. she also gets hit with a fire extinguisher and face plants directly on the ground.
Chat Noir immediately adapts to a completely dark room and drags his partner with him to capture a super villain. he also eats shit after trying to be funny at said super villain.
nature is balanced

Tales of Bloody Bug and Chat Noir - Chapter 3 - Stormy Weather
Beginning || Previous || Next
Alix arrived at her roller derby practice early. She rushed to the locker room as she got into her gear. Tikki poked her head out of the gym bag and looked around.
“Is this where you practice this roller derby you mentioned?” Tikki asked.
“Kinda. These are just the locker rooms. Gotta get in my gear and skates before I hit the rink.”
“Could I watch? I’ve never seen this before.”
“Yeah! Why not find a place to watch it from now while no one else is here?”
Tikki grinned and flew through the wall. Alix smiled as she finished getting ready. She headed for the rink as other girls flooded into the dressing room. A pair of them, a blonde and a brunette, flagged her down.
“Hey, Alix! How’s it going?” the blonde asked.
“Oh, the usual. Ready to butt heads today?” Alix asked.
“Always. Make it extra rough for her,” the brunette teased, pointing at the blonde.
The blonde tsked. “Don’t listen to her. She’s just upset that I’m voting for Aurore in the weather girl vote today.”
The brunette scoffed. “Please! Mireille is clearly the better choice than that Aurore girl.”
“Hey, Alix, why don’t you settle this dispute? Who is the better weather girl?”
“Yeah, no. I got a better idea. Why not duke it out during practice? You know, where all our problems are solved.”
“You know what? Yeah. You’re going down and I’ll prove Aurore is the superior choice,” the blonde declared.
“You’re mental. Mireille is the better and I’ll knock out your teeth to prove it.”
Alix smirked. She left the girls be and headed out to the rink.
~~
Adrien sighed as he sat on the fountain at Place des Vosages. He watched the photographers finish their preparations for the photoshoot. He glanced around the semi-empty square and curious onlookers as they dared take photos of him.
Adrien turned away from the passersby. He didn’t want to be here for a photoshoot. He wanted to just come and enjoy the square. Gabriel had other plans and arranged for a photoshoot if he wanted to be outside so badly.
“Alright, we are ready,” Vincent, the head photographer, announced.
Adrien rolled his eyes. He stood and went through the motions as Vincent encouraged him. With each click of the camera, he zoned in and out before he moved completely on autopilot. He was pulled from his daze when Vincent yelled out.
“This won’t do! We need something. Something more. We need… we need… ah! We need an extra!”
Adrien raised a brow as Vincent looked around. Vincent beamed when he saw Alya sitting by a tree, eating an apple. Adrien gasped and looked around, seeing Marinette with a little girl as they bought balloons with Mireille’s face on them. He turned back to Vincent, but Vincent already approached Alya.
Adrien frowned. He wouldn’t mind modeling with Alya, but with Marinette, he could make up for the gum incident. He already apologized, but he wanted to do something nice for her. This was something nice, right? He was aware a lot of people, boys and girls alike, would love to just meet him. To model with him must be like a dream, right?
Adrien smirked and ran towards Marinette as she headed to the carousel. He stopped dead when screams tore through the air. He looked up to see a girl in a purple storm dress, white gloves and boots, and wild lightning pigtails. He watched as the girl waved her parasol, creating an icy wind that blew people away and trapped the carousel within an ice dome.
            “Marinette!” Alya called out.
Alya ran past to the dome where Marinette, the little girl, and a few others were trapped in. Adrien rushed over to the photoshoot supplies to his bag. He ripped it open, hoping to find Plagg, but didn’t see him.
“Plagg? Plagg!” Adrien yelled in a hushed voice.
            “I’m not here,” Plagg remarked.
Adrien rolled his eyes and took out a slice of camembert from his jacket. Plagg phased through one of the trunks to the cheese. Plagg inhaled it while Adrien stood.
            “Let’s go. Plagg, claws out!”
Plagg disappeared into the ring and transformed Adrien into Chat Noir.
Chat Noir looked around and saw the storm girl heading out of the park. He hopped onto the fence and perched there.
“Hey, Ice Queen! What’s with all the terrorizing? Why don’t you pick on someone your own temperature?”
“My name is Stormy Weather, not Ice Queen!”
Chat Noir snorted. He slid down the fence and twirled his tail. “Listen, I’m feline more generous than usual today. So, cool down and we’ll call it quits, ok?”
Stormy Weather rolled her eyes. She opened her umbrella, summoning a dangerous gale that blew Chat Noir away.
~~
Alix stepped out onto the sidewalk after derby practice. She took a deep breath in and sighed. She placed a single ear bud in her ear as she walked home.
“So, Tikki, what’d you think?” Alix asked.
            “Well, you were very… enthusiastic.”
“Wasn’t I? Man, nothing quite beats roller derby. I honestly think I’d go insane without it. It’s not like I can do all that stuff out here. As much as I want to.”
“Well, I mean, you kinda need to as a hero. Maybe not as ruthlessly, but you know.”
“Ah, don’t be a stick in the mud, Tikki. Besides, these are bad guys, and bad guys need to learn their lessons. What better way than a swift kick and punch?”
“That’s not how you handled Stoneheart.”
Alix rolled her eyes. “That… that was different. I didn’t realize he could become Stoneheart as easily again. Doesn’t help that Ivan wears his heart on his sleeve but doesn’t have the balls to stand up for himself. I mean, I wear my heart on my sleeve, but you don’t see people messing with me.”
“That’s because you’ll likely beat them up,” Tikki remarked.
“Hey! You need to crack a few eggs to make an omelet. It’s basically the same thing, just cracking a few heads and striking fear into their hearts.”
“Alix, you’ll never make friends that way.”
“Good. They wouldn’t be able to handle me anyways.”
            “Alix-,” Tikki started.
Alix’s attention was stolen away by screaming. She stopped and looked around, then up. She gasped seeing Chat Noir slam into the ground and bounce off the cars before he came to a full stop. Not far behind him was Stormy Weather.
“Shit. Save the lecture, Tikki. We have trouble.”
Alix darted down an alleyway. She ran as dark clouds covered the sky. Purple lightning streaked across it and struck nearby. She swore and stashed her bag behind a dumpster.
            “Alright! Tikki, spots on!”
Tikki disappeared into the earrings and transformed Alix into Bloody Bug.
Bloody Bug rushed out into the street. She spotted Chat Noir keeping Stormy Weather occupied with his relentless attacks that she shrugged off with a mix of wind and ice with the occasional lightning. She saw him recover from the last attack and move to strike again. She twirled her yo-yo and snagged Stormy Weather’s parasol.
Stormy Weather screeched. She struggled against Bloody Bug, then screamed. The tip of the parasol glowed purple when Chat Noir struck her over the head with his staff. She released her parasol to rub her head, allowing Bloody Bug to take it. She gasped and lunged forward, but Chat Noir pinned her to the road.
“Well, color me surprised. You did good, fleabag,” Bloody Bug praised.
Chat Noir’s ears perked up. “I’m so pleased to earn your approval, Mini Bug.”
Bloody Bug’s eye twitched. “I will smack you.”
“Awe, what’s the matter, Mini Bug? Don’t like that I was the better hero today? If you want, I can give you some tips, little Mini.”
            “That’s it!”
Bloody Bug roared and smacked Chat Noir over the head with the parasol, breaking it on his head. She blinked as the Akuma flew from it. She snorted and caught it while he mewed like a kitten and rubbed his head. She released the Akuma and watched the ice and storm vanish as Stormy Weather reverted to Aurore, one of her schoolmates.
Aurore blinked and sat up. “Where am I? What happened?”
“Hey, aren’t you that girl part of the weather girl contest?” Bloody Bug asked.
“I was, but I lost,” Aurore pouted.
“Seriously? And you threw a little tantrum at losing? That’s some piss poor sportsmanship,” Bloody Bug berated.
“So? I was supposed to win. The people had to love me over Mireille. I was clearly the better option.”
Bloody Bug laughed. “With that attitude? I’m surprised you even made it to the finals. No wonder Mireille beat you.”
“Excuse you. Who are you to make that judgement?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe someone standing before another someone who allowed herself to be akumatized and turned into a monster for being a poor sport. Little advice, Sunshine. If you’re going to compete in anything, you need to understand that there is always the possibility of you losing to someone better than you. Yeah, it sucks to lose, but there’s always that chance and we just got to deal with it.”
“And how would you even know?”
“Because I’ve competed in sports for years now. I was like you when I was younger and always threw the biggest fits over losing. It took time, but now when I lose, I can accept the outcome. Just like you need to. You lost, it sucks, but you need to embrace it and move on.”
Aurore growled and crossed her arms.
“Look, be angry, upset, sad, whatever, but there’s no need to become a monster. Understand?”
Aurore looked at Bloody Bug, then away. She sighed and nodded. “Understood.”
Bloody Bug nodded and helped Aurore up. “Good. Sorry to hear that you lost. Maybe next time you’ll win. Never forget that either. Just because you messed up this time, doesn’t mean it’s the end all be all. There are always chances in the future to be better.”
“Speaking of, Mini Bug, I’m waiting,” Chat Noir butted in.
            “For?”
“For an apology. You hurt my fabulous head and broke her pretty parasol.”
“Wait, is your name really ‘Mini Bug’?” Aurore asked.
“No, and a certain fleabag is going to end up drowned in the Seine if he keeps calling me it,” Bloody Bug snarled.
“Awe, but it’s a fitting name for one as small and adorable as you. You’re like one of those little purse, ankle biter dogs I see carried around and getting all dressed up. You just need a bow and you’d be just like them,” Chat Noir teased.
Bloody Bug snarled. She grabbed Chat Noir’s arm and threw him. She listened as his screams faded to nothing.
“Now then. Allow me to take you back to wherever you need to be, ok?”
Aurore considered and nodded. “Thank you, uh, Ladybug?”
            “Not quite. I’m Bloody Bug.”
            “Seems… oddly fitting.”
“Good. Maybe this butterfly person will take a hint. Now, hold on. We’re going to fly.”
~~
Chat Noir crashed into the ground at Place des Vosages. People shrieked and jumped out of the way as he tumbled and slammed into a tree. He meowed and rubbed his head as Alya approached him. He looked up as she shoved her phone camera in his face.
“Unbelievable! You’re here with Alya Cesaire as I meet one of our defenders, the cat boy. Tell us, cat boy, what happened? Who was that weather girl? Did you stop her?”
“Uh… yes! I, the brave and wonderful Chat Noir, brought down the evil Stormy Weather with the assistance of Mini… I mean, Bloody Bug.”
Alya beamed. “Bloody Bug? That’s her name? Is she bloody? What’s she like? What do you think of her?”
“Well, uh, I mean, she’s pretty cool. Though, not as cool as this cat.”
            “What else?”
“Well, she has a strong throwing arm?”
“Was she the one that threw you? What happened?”
“Oh, we were just teasing, like friends do.”
            “Friends or friends?”
Chat Noir raised a brow and tilted his head. “I don’t get what you’re insinuating, but I better get going. I have somewhere I need to be. Catch ya later, reporter girl.”
Chat Noir retreated before Alya could get another word out. He hid in a nearby alley and de-transformed before he headed back to the square. His bodyguard and the camera crew all stopped and surrounded him. They all voiced their concerns and relief seeing him in one piece.
“Now then, let’s get back to the shoot!” Vincent announced.
Gorilla, Adrien’s bodyguard, put a hand on Vincent’s shoulder and shook his head.
“We aren’t going home already, are we?” Adrien asked.
            Gorilla nodded.
Adrien’s shoulders dropped as he was escorted out of the square. He looked back as Vincent and his crew packed things up. He looked past them to see Marinette and the little girl was free of that ice dome and with Alya. He smiled, happy to see she wasn’t in danger, but he couldn’t shake the disappointment. He was looking forward to hopefully modeling with her. He wanted to do something nice for his new friend.
Adrien sighed as he got into the car. He looked out the window as Marinette and Alya disappeared, and he was taken home. Maybe next time.

ALL ABOARD MY CRACK SHIPS!! 🚢🚢🚢
(in no particular order)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alya x Adrien (Rena x Chat) same brain cell all the way
Ok ik I said they share the same brain cell and I still think Rena and Chat do but Alya and Adrien’s dynamic is a lil different. They’d probably start off as friends first. I think Alya would take him out of his comfort zone and show him new and exciting things. Like adrenaline junkie things bc Alya is so fun and fearless. Also different foods bc her mom is a Chef.
Stormy Weather x Chat Noir. gets flustered/angry when teased x teaser
okay I think this one is pure crack but it’d be so silly! Soo much banter, so many puns. There is no real explanation or justification for this ship, I just watched Stormy Weather and found them fun. also I love stormy weather’s design
Chloe x Adrien aww childhood friends to lovers.
Of course their relationship would have some ups and downs but Adrien is kind, patient, and forgiving giving Chloe the room to fully develop into a better person. Chloe would help Adrien become more assertive and firm, not only with her bc she can act like a brat sometimes, but also with his father and people who try to take advantage of him (FÉLIX). He would probably only get like that on occasion though and Chloe would usually be the one to say he ordered no pickles on his burger.
Chloe x Kagami (Queen Bee x Ryuko) tsundere x kuudere.
I can see this going two of ways, either enemies to lovers or something similar to a celebrity/popular person and person who doesn’t give a shit and treats them like a normal person. Kagami would call Chloe out on her shit n that would simultaneously piss Chloe off and make her contemplate the way she acts. Maybe they both connect over their love for Adrien, platonic or romantic (😱 love triangle where the opponents fall in love instead!?!?) Both are some how extremely blunt while also being emotionally constipated. I like to imagine that when Chloe is being rude for attention Kagami would ignore her until Chloe asks directly for what she wants(cuddles).
Luka x Nino (Viperion x Carapace) chill guy x nervous wreck.
When Nino is stressed Luka is always there to calm him down. Otherwise, they’re both super chill and bond over music. In the past, Nino would sometimes entertain the idea of learning an instrument and making his own music but now that Luka’s in his life and is starting a band, he has more motivation to learn the keyboard. He would probably replace Adrien in Kitty Section (sorry adrien). But if Adrien rlly wants to be in the band Nino has no problem just directing/editing the music videos for them or background sound stuff.
Nino x Marinette complete disasters.
Definitely awkward in the beginning. Especially if they both have crushes on eachother. Nino would make Marinette playlists as a way of communicating his feelings. Either the titles of all the songs say a message or the songs themselves are the message. So much blushing, nervous laughter, and slip-ups (if they can even talk to eachother at all), Adrien and Alya would help them fall in love and confess and possibly develop feelings for each other while doing so.
Rose x Max might be a lil ooc but cinnamon roll x cynical or more accurately blind optimist x extreme realist
lol I lowkey started writing a whole short story/synopsis for these two but long story short Rose gets Max to believe in the improbable and to stop relying so much brain and more on his heart. Rose can be kind of naive so Max helps Rose use her brain and start questioning others and their intentions more. When Rose tell Max about her illness he would freak out, research it, and bring Rose’s favorite things as much as possible if she was in the hospital. He even would build her a robot that tells jokes, plays movies, and has custom video games that she would like. Idk.
To be honest most of these started off as jokes but now that I’ve typed out their dynamics I think some of these ships could actually work.

Miraculous Rewrite AU. Chapter 3: Stormyweather
(homophobia, autistic meltdown, implied ableism)
(stormyweather redesign inspired by @miraculous-metamorphosis and @wormzandgutz)
-You ready, love? – asks Mireille, opening the door and entering Aurore's dressing room.
-Almost. – she sighs, irritated, closing the makeup kit. – Honestly, why do they want to do this poll? It was already decided that they liked us equally, that's why we present the program together!
-I don't know, it must be something to increase the audience or something. But everything will be fine, our contracts do not allow for a dismissal like that, so out of the blue, for no reason at all. Let's go?
-Let's go. – and smiled at her girlfriend, holding her hand for a brief moment before they went to the set where the program would be broadcast live.
-Welcome back, viewers!! – Alec exclaims, and Aurore has to stop herself from rolling her eyes. God, how she hates that man's voice when he is on TV. – As we said in the last block, you will vote for your favorite weather girl on our channel: Aurore Beaureal or Mireille Caquet, and also for the one you want to stay on the program!
What?
They both look at each other, eyes wide, having no idea how to react or what to do in this situation. They can't ask Alec, what the fuck? Nor can they stop the program or the vote from taking place. If they do anything, they will be fired. Which isn't much, since one of the two is apparently going to be fired anyway.
They can't do anything. After all, they are just weather girls.
As soon as the broadcast ends, along with her promise of a good future in her career in meteorology, Aurore goes to Alec and hits him on the knees with her cane. Marching angrily to the elevator, she waits for the door to close behind her, with Mireille trying to catch up to her from the hallway, so she can scream in fury.
She isn't mad at Mireille, she would never be mad at her because of that. She is mad with that shitty presenter who worked for the shitty enforcers of this shitty network.
When she arrives at her building, all she wants to do is get to her apartment, lie in bed and cry in frustration. And then the elevator stops and the lights go out.
-AH, FUCK YOU! – she exclaims, sitting on the floor, boilling in anger. Feeling her cell phone vibrate, she takes it out of her dress pocket and sees that it's Mireille. She answers, her voice defeated. – …hi, Mimi…
-Aurore, I heard one of the executives talking to an investor, from what I understand, they did all this shit because we are publicly dating and this investor threatened to stop the sponsorship because of that.
Aurore's blood boils. Is that why they destroyed her future? Because of some old, homophobic, jealous piece of shit who couldn't stand her and her girlfriend being happy?
She fees her breathing quicken, fury rising in her chest. She can't hear what Mireille says, and only stops when she sees it.
-What the fuck is that? – she murmurs, taking the umbrella in her hand to try to ward it off. It looks like a big, black insect, but
Suddenly, Aurore remembers what happened a week ago, above the Eiffel Tower. That horrible face made of black butterflies.
Horrified, she tries to swing the umbrella to hit the insect or at least make it go away, but it is in vain. That blackness merges with the umbrella, blurring Aurore's mind.
-Love? Aurora? – Mireille mutters, in panic. She hears something she can't understand, then hears a name she started to fear a week ago: “Hawk Moth.” – Shit. No no no no.
She realizes she needs to do something. In panic, the girl almost flies to an empty studio. She needs a camera that can broadcast to the entire city.
-
-Girl, did I tell you that your outfit is really cute?
Marinette fees her cheeks warming up and a slight smile appearing on her lips. She is very happy that Alya noticed the outfit she thought of for the day, as it is one of her favorites, particularly. Even though it is simple, they find it adorable: it is a sailor school uniform, like the ones in anime, black with green details complemented by a black belt with green details and a bow on top of her head, her hair arranged in a small braid at her back.
-Ah, thank you very much… you also look very beautiful!
-Oh, do you think so? Thanks!
Alya really looks beautiful, simple and gorgeous, with a white sweatshirt, a short black skirt and a headband of the same tone holding back her curly hair.
For the last week, after the whole thing with Stoneheart, Marinette has been looking like a nervous wreck, thinking that an akuma would appear at any moment, and in fact it could happen, but she really needed to relax. It was actually a good idea to invite Alya to spend some time there on Sunday, as she, despite being very electric, brings peace to their heart.
Unfortunately, this tranquility soon evaporates, as the TV broadcast is “hacked” by someone, with the image suddenly changing and showing… Mireille, one of the girls at her school who is Alya's friend and also the weather girl, looking like about to have an anxiety attack…?
-LADYBUG, CHAT NOIR! – she shouts, her eyes filled with despair. – THERE IS AN AKUMA IN PARIS! I don't know where she is, or what she looks like, or what powers she has, but I know she's coming here, to the broadcaster!! Please come quickly before something very, very bad happens!!
Fuck.
What was she going to do? What was she going to do? She couldn't reveal her identity to Alya like that, but she also couldn't go away out of the blue without any explanation! Only if…
-I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! – she suddenly exclaims, getting up and running over there. She locks the door from the inside and exclaims, in her best possible voice: – Oh, no!! I think I got stuck!! Alya, can you try to find the spare bathroom key in my room?! Unfortunately, I don't remember where I left it!!
And, knowing full well that that key doesn't exist, she transforms into Ladybug and leaves through the window.
She and Chat Noir meet at the top of the building.
-How are you doing, my lady?
-Hi, Chat. Let's try to do it quickly this time, okay?
-What's the rush, Ladybug? The akuma hasn't even gotten here yet.
-I think it's Aurore Beaureal.
-How do you know?
-Intuition. Anyway, I have some things to do, so let's do it quickly.
-You really don't like this?
-Do you like?
-To be honest, one of the reasons I accepted was so I could decide something about my own life and act like myself for at least a part of the day.
-…that…is very sad, but we need to talk about it later.
-…are you really okay, Mari?
-Don't call me that when I'm Ladybug!!
-I'm sorry, but did something happen? You seem really nervous.
-It's nothing!! I just want to finish as quickly as possible!! – he's so fucking annoying, can't he see that she just wants to do it quickly and be left alone?!
-…I'm sorry, Ladybug.
He looks a little upset. Shit, she fucked up, didn't she? She didn't know how to socialize outside of her trusted circle, and now, because of that, she hurt Chat Noir. Before he can even apologize, the two hear a loud bang below and see the studio door flying away, pushed by strong winds.
-Fuck. She is here.
They immediately start going down the stairs, nervousness seeming to speed up her heart more and more, and stop on the top floor, where the station's owners work, prepared for when she appears in the elevator.
Well, she shows up. It is just a little scary.
She was definitely Aurore, just a much darker version of the girl. Her pigtails were transformed into lightning bolts, constantly changing in a crazy zigzag. The skirt was made of dark clouds, occasionally releasing small storms at her feet, which floated, never touching the ground. Her skin was gray, her ears were pointed, and her eyes were completely white. She wore a dark leather coat open, revealing an outfit tailored like a rag doll's, black and white striped tights and black pointy flats.
Ladybug swallows. She knows Aurore. Maybe she can talk to her.
-Aurore.
-Stormyweather. – the voice, despite still being hers, sounds like thunder. However, it is also cold, completely different from her usual expressive tone.
-Mireille called us to help you.
-You'll help me if you get out of my way and let me destroy this bastard.
-He's not here anymore.
-Then, I destroy the tower. It will be enough.
There is no way to talk to her, Ladybug realizes and understands this. She makes a slight sign with her hands. Chat Noir sees it and attacks.
As soon as she sees him coming towards her, Stormyweather creates a gale so strong that it pushes them back and destroys the lamps in the corridor, leaving them in the dark.
-Where is she?! Where?!! – Ladybug screams, her voice bordering on despair, only increasing when she feels a fast wind passing by her.
-Calm down, I have night vision!! I'll take you!! – Chat Noir then grabbs her arm and starts running.
She hates it.
They hate that with their entire being, feeling the two bodies rubbing together painfully, feeling everything heightened.
Please no, please no… I can't deal with this right now…
-Go quickly!! – she exclaims, trying to hold back the pain. – What if the military arrives, like that time?! They will kill her!!
-They won't!! We will arrive first!! They know that only we can fix everything!!
-Still, what if they arrive?! What if… – she is interrupted when he opens the door.
She hated being in the dark, with her hand being grabbed and being dragged to places she didn't know. It was almost painful, almost too much. But it gets much, much worse when they get back to the roof.
Stormyweather created a real storm, almost a hurricane, above the building. There is lightning and thunder and wind and sounds of wind and cold and heat and ice and rain and light and bangs and things touching and it is all way too much.
She starts blinking uncontrollably. Involuntarily, their feet go further and further back, seeking refuge on that staircase. Her eyes begin to fill with tears, and she feels a scream threatening to escape her throat. Desperately trying to protect herself from the sensations, protect herself from everything, she crouches on the stairs, starting to rock, back and forth, and slams her hands against her ears and screams and tries to just stop feeling.
-…! Ladybug!!
Chat Noir tries to grab her hands in panic, but this only makes Ladybug scream even more, tears escaping from her squeezed tight eyes and her feet hitting the stone floor.
What should he do?! What is that?! Why is this happening?! How should he act?! He is starting to panic, until something falls in front of him.
A towel.
Even in that state, she called lucky charm. She trusts him. She knows she can't fight Stormyweather, so she trusts him to do it.
He will.
He, not knowing if he should interfere, carefully closes the door behind him, returning to the collapsing ceiling with the towel in his hands.
-I will take care of everything, my lady. Do not worry. – he murmurs, perhaps to her, perhaps to himself.
Chat Noir quickly realizes that he doesn't have the same ability to create complex (and somewhat insane) plans as Ladybug, so he decides to do everything in a… simpler way, let's say.
By climbing onto an almost collapsing billboard, running over it towards Stormyweather, jumping on top of her and using the towel to cling to her and have an opening to cataclysm the umbrella in her hands.
Of course, he panicks slightly when the two started to fall, but he manages to use one of his crutches to stabilize his descent and hold Aurore (who is screaming a lot) with his other arm.
-C-Chat Noir? – she murmurs, shaking a little. - What happened?
-Don't worry, we've already solved everything. Can you wait a little here? I'll be right back.
-Ok…?
Chat Noir heads to the stairs, gently opening them and asking in a whisper:
-My lady?
-Hmm? – Ladybug replies, raising her head.
-How are you?
She does not answer.
-Could you call the miraculous ladybug, please? Then I'll take you home.
She holds out her hand and he throws the towel to her. She throws the towel up again, and the object turns into a billion ladybugs.
-Do you want help getting up?
She shakes her head and goes to him, her body curled up, as if protecting herself from something, and they both return to the roof. To his surprise, from the newly repaired elevator, Mireille appeared, and is now talking to Aurore.
-… cyan dress with white cloud pattern on the skirt, baby blue flats…
-Hmm? – Chat Noir's attention turns to Ladybug, who is whispering to herself. Then, he notices that she is describing Aurore and Mireille's clothes.
-Tea green sweater, skirt in the same tone with a white lightning pattern, gray tights, white ankle boots, sun pendant around the neck…
Realizing that she must be doing this to self-regulate in some way, they leave, with her hugging him and clinging to him.
-Aurore!!
The girl is startled when she hears her own name, and, as she turns towards the repaired elevator, she mutters:
-Mireille?
-Are you okay?! My god, I thought something really bad was going to happen!!
-I… don't remember… what… – suddenly, a flash of memory. – That son of a bitch took advantage of me and turned me into something?!
-…yeah… at least you looked prettier than that first guy. Anyway, let's leave soon, I resigned.
-What?! Mimi, no!! Why?! Just because of me?! You shouldn't have done that!!!
-Love, listen to me: firstly, I would never work for a broadcaster like that if I knew that shit, and I know you wouldn't either. Secondly, I was already going to be fired after taking that camera and breaking into the broadcast out of nowhere without anyone knowing.
-…ah…
-Do you want to go get ice cream to calm down a little?
-I want to, but… can you carry me? I left my cane in the elevator of my building… which is broken…
-Of course, sweetheart.
As soon as they land on the roof, Ladybug mutters:
-…sorry.
-Why?
-For that thing. For letting you down.
-Why apologize? You were clearly not well. I took care of the situation myself and it wasn't a problem, and if you're about to have it happen again, just let me know. But… can I ask a question?
-Course.
-What happened?
-Hm… I didn't want to say that so as not to change anything between us, but now there's no way I can do that… I'm autistic, and at the time I was so stressed about things and anxious and there ended up being too much around me, and that happened… it's called meltdown…
-Why didn't you want to talk? It wouldn't change anything.
-Wait, seriously?
-Yeah. You are my friend and even though I don't understand much about it, I will try my best to help me, you just need to let me know. Also, don't we have other autistic classmates, if I'm not mistaken? I would be a fucking asshole if I treated you differently because of this.
-…thanks. You are the best.
-Don't exaggerate, come on.
-At least the best partner.
-We only work together for a week.
-Stop contradicting me. – Chat Noir turns to go. – Hey, wait!
-What happened, Buggaboo?
-Stop that. You said a bad word, I'm proud of you.
-I learned from the best. – and smiles as he leaves.
Ladybug, using her poor climbing skills, manages to hang from the wall of the building to the bathroom window, entering, detransforming and exclaiming, upon opening the door:
-Oh dear!! The door unlocked by itself! It's a miracle!!
Alya strokes Marinette's hair while she naps on his lap and watches TV, until her cell phone rings loudly (and even then, Marinette doesn't wake up) and she answers:
-Hello?
-Hi, Alya, it's Aurore.
-Ah, hi, Aurore! Is Mireille there with you?
-Yes she is!
-I'm sorry about what happened to you.
-It's okay, we're over it. Here, y'know that news blog of yours?
-Uh, yes, why?
-Does he perhaps need two presenters who hate TV channels a lot
-…Yes. – and a smile emerged on his lips.
-
That one was really quick, but I really liked how it turned out! I think it was a nice introduction to Ladynoir dynamic and also Aurore and Mireille (they'll have other appearances in the future). Next chapter is Dark Cupid, which means things are going to start to get really good!

“Marinette Lesson of the Episode” Review - S1 E1: Stormy Weather
So I’ve long been vocal about not understanding the execution of the show Miraculous Ladybug’s rule of ‘Marinette must learn a lesson in every episode’. In theory the idea is fine, and many kids’ shows attempt to do the same thing, and usually with success. But Miraculous is increasingly known for poorly executing good concepts and have also acquired a bit of a reputation for putting main character Marinette, aka Ladybug, through the ringer in order to make these lessons happen. So I’ve decided, in all my pettiness and enjoyment of summarising my thoughts on my special interests, to go through all the lessons Marinette learns in each episode, with a ranking system at the bottom of my long-winded analysis if my write-up is TL;DR. Starting with the very first episode; Stormy Weather
Essay-Worthy Review (TL;DR at the bottom)
The episode starts with Marinette trying to keep Manon in check but getting repeatedly overwhelmed by this absolute gremlin running rings around her. She’s endangering Marinette’s work-in-progress hat design, stealing Marinette’s phone to vote for Mireille to win the contest (original phone stealer here guys) and causing Marinette to get hurt chasing her as she smacks into a table at one point. This does not so much as get a reaction from Manon. We don’t know how long these two have known each other at this point, especially since Alya then comes in and has to be introduced to Manon as “one of my mum’s friends’ daughters”, but Manon not even flinching at Marinette’s clumsiness implies to me that either Manon is no shits given right off the bat in a way that generally most kids would at least pause at if they see their current caretaker getting hurt or Manon knows Marinette well enough already to know she’s gonna bounce back
And honestly, the latter is what we seem to be supposed to believe, which makes Marinette’s inability to say no look even worse since she clearly has no handle on this kid at least right now but still agreed to take care of her once again even knowing this. Which is fine if the lesson of the episode is addressing exactly that; that Marinette needs to learn to say no. Instantly establishing a relatable character flaw in your main character in her very first on-screen appearance is a good start, especially since it’s one that isn’t so easily overcome in the span of a single episode. Strong opening
And then Alya waltzes in and helps us confirm that, yes, Marinette does struggle to say no and can be a pushover at times, even agreeing to do things she clearly doesn’t want to do and/or isn’t capable of doing without overwhelming herself. Follow this up by Marinette saying right away that she can’t do the things she herself would like to do, aka go to the park to see Adrien, because she accepted this responsibility and now she has to honour that? Even when Alya offers to take care of Manon in Marinette’s place, pointing out that Alya is far more knowledgeable and experienced in handling babysitting jobs? Marinette is now portrayed in her very first scene as honourable and responsible, but to a bit of a fault since her very relatable struggle to say no puts her into situations where she takes responsibility for things she isn’t quite able to handle on her own. This can translate to both Marinette and Ladybug, and we haven’t even met Ladybug yet! When it comes to establishing Marinette’s character early on, they’re doing a great job! And I’m so damn glad this ties in with the lesson of the episode so I can ramble about this because as much as I’m happy to salt we also need to give credit where it’s due
Anyway, Alya decides that they can all go down to the park together so that Marinette can see Adrien while still babysitting Manon with Alya’s assistance on both activities (also another more subtle example of Marinette struggling to say no because despite telling Alya that she had to stay home to watch Manon and assuring Alya that she couldn’t make Alya watch Manon in her place Alya whisks them both out the door regardless and Marinette’s response is “Okay!”) and Manon wants to get a balloon. Alya offers to take her to get the balloon, but Manon demands that Marinette take her, not Alya. Marinette, despite her and Alya both wanting Marinette to stick around for Adrien, immediately assures Alya that as Manon’s babysitter she should do it, despite Alya’s protests about Adrien. Once again, we see Marinette sacrificing what she wants to do in order to take on a responsibility she struggled to say no to. Of course, when babysitting you can’t just leave and do what you want, but since the show keeps highlighting how Marinette has to choose between her wants and a responsibility she didn’t want to take on regardless, it’s clearly trying to convey that this is a common thing with Marinette - and this tends to remain consistent in future episodes. They’re trying to portray Marinette as taking on too much for others to the point of prioritising the wants and needs of others over the wants and needs of herself
We follow up with Manon getting her balloon and Marinette wanting to go back to see Adrien, but Manon insists they go on the merry-go-round. Marinette at this point says “No, no, no, no, not right now, I gotta get back to Adrien…” which features Marinette explicitly saying no multiple times, ‘not right now’ assuring Manon that they will do the activity at a later point in the day and she won’t be forgotten, followed by Marinette giving Manon an explanation as to why they can’t do the activity right now. She’s made a very good attempt to be direct, but also reassure Manon and explain herself without denying Manon of what she wants. Great attempt at putting her foot down… except…
“Aw, please, please, not the baby doll eyes… You know I can’t say no to the-”
Aaaaand instantly Marinette’s foot is back off the ground, giving us the perfect on-screen struggle to say no as well as seeing that even when Marinette attempts to say no she can be pressured into giving in when others continue to badger her. We’re getting so much evidence to work with here, and since Manon is a little brat kid, it doesn’t all feel forced, but realistic
We then see Alya rush over to Marinette and Manon saying that Adrien needs Marinette to model with him. Marinette’s first response to this is “What? Seriously? But, what about Manon?”, followed by Alya saying that she’ll take care of her for Marinette. Despite Manon’s initial protests about wanting to stay with Marinette, Alya quickly wins her over and takes her away to play make-believe. Marinette doesn’t get a word in edgewise about this, her next line being a shocked sound when she sees Stormy Weather approaching, which leaves her to rush off and transform before saying to herself “Why did I leave Manon? I should never have done that! No. Alya’s right. She’s in good hands. I must trust her”
Okay points for cutting off your pity party to assure yourself that you’re in no way responsible for this, especially with the use of the word ‘no’ to counteract the guilt trip. Sometimes saying no to yourself is just as difficult as saying no to others. But we still have to address it since it was vocalised; Marinette, you left them alone for all of two seconds before a supervillain appeared out of nowhere and sealed them in ice, how could you possibly have predicted that or been able to prevent that should you have been in Alya’s place? And it’s not even like she ‘let’ Manon go, Alya kinda just took her. Marinette was still being responsible regardless, since she left Manon in the care of an experienced and willing babysitter who she knows and trusts. If Marinette had asked Alya to watch Manon for five seconds while she went to the bathroom, would she also be at fault and to blame because she left Manon with Alya? But fortunately Marinette did cut herself off and assure herself that it wasn’t her fault, so this point isn’t really the real ‘Marinette does something wrong’ moment and the show thankfully acknowledges that
And then after the Stormy Weather fight, Marinette returns to the park and Manon asks her for a lollipop, to which Marinette more confidently than before responds with “No, Manon. I have something important to do. Alya, you’ll watch her, yeah? I’m ready for the photoshoot!”
Girl! You did it! You actually did it! Not only did she say no to Manon and stick to her guns, she also felt comfortable enough to request - no, in the nicest way possible more or less expect based on previous discussions - Alya to watch Manon for her for five minutes. She finally actively puts herself first without worrying about her taking Alya up on her offer of help being a mockery of her responsibilities. She’s learned her lesson and she’s made progress, even if just a little! And sure, they don’t give her the reward of being in the photoshoot with Adrien and instead give the role to Manon, which I’ve seen some people consider punishing Marinette for her behaviour in the episode, but in this case I don’t believe that, even if I can see how people would come to that conclusion based on patterns in the show of Marinette losing out on things last minute even after learning her lesson as if to punish her for needing to learn that lesson in the first place. I’m happy to say this one is nothing more than just a funny gag at the end, even if I agree that it can be perceived as the start of a concerning pattern
——— Rankings ———
Intended Lesson
Learn to say ‘no’
Conveyed Lesson
It’s okay to set boundaries with others and stick to them, you don’t have to take on responsibilities for others, especially at your own detriment or when you aren’t prepared to take on a certain responsibility. You don’t have to struggle for the sake of others, sometimes you may need help with your responsibilities and so long as you find someone willing, able and trustworthy to help you out, don’t feel bad about delegating a little if you need the assistance
Appropriateness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Marinette being a pushover and a people-pleaser to her own detriment is a consistent character flaw in the show and is absolutely a lesson Marinette needs to learn, as well as being a very relatable problem for audiences of pretty much any age group or demographic
Execution: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The episode consistently refers to both on- and off-screen examples of Marinette either being unable to say no or struggling to put her foot down and stick to her word after she says it. They do this in a way that feels relatable and realistic and not contrived. And by the end of the episode Marinette is able to put her foot down without being walked over
Blame Distribution: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Marinette has a brief moment of doubt as to her being to blame for Manon and Alya being iced because Alya was watching Manon in the two seconds that occurred in, but she saves herself by immediately saying no to her own doubts. Not only did she put saying no into practice on herself, but she also reminded herself that she was not to blame for Manon being put in harm’s way - it would have happened regardless of who was with Manon at that particular moment. Moreover, they don’t attempt to guilt trip Marinette about struggling to say no, but instead send in Alya to assist her and support her in her attempts to say no as well as the natural consequences of her actions, i.e. having to babysit Manon when she doesn’t want to and isn’t prepared to
Overall Ranking: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m proud to say we’re starting off very strong here with top marks all around. The Marinette Lesson of the Episode was easily identifiable as it’s intended message, appropriate to Marinette’s character and her consistent character flaws, didn’t unfairly place or remove blame and felt natural rather than contrived. It all hit home. It created a solid lesson. The only note I could possibly give would be to let Marinette do the photoshoot rather than having her finally being able to tell Manon ‘no’ give her the same result as continuing to be a pushover, or at least have Adrien say something nice to her so that it doesn’t feel like Marinette ended up in the same position regardless of success or failure. But that’s more of a nitpick than anything, and especially for the very first episode I’m very pleased with this!
